Challenges of starting a clothing brand
Ortega started over a year and a half ago. I have faced many challenges and learned a few things during this time. Today I just wanted to share some of my thoughts about starting your own brand.
First things first, there is a million clothing brands out there, you have to figure out what makes your brand different from any other brand. Quality, price, design, fabrics, etc.
Great, you have a product now. That is the easiest part of the whole process. Everyone starting a brand has a vision of what they want and if you don’t, you should figure out what your brand’s vision is. Having a vision allows you to create clearly and it makes taking your ideas into the real world easier.
The problem is, you know you have a great idea, a great product. No one else does. You can literally have the best quality, best price and best looking garment that if no one else knows it, your business won’t work.
Marketing. Marketing is everything for your business. Through your marketing you let people that don’t know you see your vision, and hopefully convince them to want to buy your garments. Marketing is how luxury brands are able to charge you 10x their cost, because they’re selling you their vision.
How you place your product matters as much as the product itself.
Lastly, patience. Starting a brand is not a get rich quick plan. All the brands that inspire you to start your own brand have been in the game for many years. You need to be able to put in the work and have no return for an unlimited period of time. You can’t be certain about how fast your brand will grow. All you can do is put in the work everyday, even when you’re not seeing the results.
Starting your own clothing brand is not easy. But everything that’s worth anything will cost something.
Create a vision, stick to your vision, put in the work, don’t give up and be patience
